The Institute, with the support of a local sponsor (for the main award) recognises the top students (both Nationally and Regionally) undertaking our one year Diploma in Packaging Technology annually.
TOP NATIONAL STUDENT OF THE YEAR
This award is presented annually to the top student of the academic year. In the 2008, 2009 and 2010 academic years, the award consisted of an overseas trip, valued at up to R15,000-00, sponsored by Infixion Media - to visit an international packaging exhibition.
Sponsors of this award ffrom 2011 are the publishers of PACKAGiNG & Print Media, IPSA’s official journal, who have offered to donate an annual cash prize of R10,000-00 to the top student.
All IPSA members receive a complimentary copy of P&PM as part of their annual membership fees. However, for further subscription information contact Chris Kerr at firstname.lastname@example.org, or read the magazine online at www.packagingmag.co.za.
The nature of the Award, and the criteria for selection of the best student of the year is decided annually, but is normally based on the student who achieves the highest percentage year mark, as this is a combination of the weighted percentage marks achieved for the 5 tests, 2 exams, and the practical student assignment, as this is a good all-round indicator of academic excellence and achievement. However, it is emphasized that this is at the sole discretion of the National Education Officer of the institute.
Photographs of the previous year's winners appear on this page.
